Career Development

After watching the movie NURSES If Florence Could See Us Now, I felt inspired by every single nurse that spoke upon the world of nursing and the impact it can have. I think it was amazing to see all the different specialties of nursing and the impact they have on the community they serve. It left me wondering what I wanted to do when I graduated because there is truly so much that I could choose from. I learned how important the community of nursing was through this movie and how much I wanted to be a part of it. I learned that as tough as this career can be, the most important thing is to stay strong and also learn your limits of what you are capable of to ensure change and improvement of care for patients. When preparing for getting a job I will remember the impact that this movie had on my thoughts on nursing. I will be able to set myself apart by researching the organizations’s mission and match it to my own not only to end up with a job that I will be happy with, but also to provide the best care that I can as a nurse. My goals as a nurse after graduation is to end up in a position in which I can grow as a nurse and learn more and more every day. With interviews I will ask as many questions as I can in order to ensure I have a good fit for a position which is an important factor in finding a job for me. When addressing my strengths I will be able to back them up with all the work I have done as a CNA, as well as working in multiple retail positions which have given me strengths with communication, leadership, effective teamwork, and many more. When addressing my goals and weaknesses I will make sure to come up with a plan on how I will work on them and how to make them effective in order to grow both as a person and a nurse.
