Preparation for Licensure and Transition to Professional Practice

Preparation for Licensure and Transition to Professional Practice

Throughout the semester I have been able to use my Individual Performance Profiles to work on my outcomes for the ATI Assessments. In the beginning of the semester I had been taking tests way too fast, which was not helping my outcomes. I also had been changing my answers on quite a bit of questions. After reviewing my profiles, I was able to work on this throughout the semester, which had been improved a little. I noticed that as I worked on them it had been improving my test taking, however as the semester was ending it was a little hard to keep focus and motivation to do well.

I was able to identify that one of my weaknesses was pharmacology. After taking the proctored exam I was able to use resources from ATI and remediating to improve my score for the retake. I feel that the remediations often help me understand where I went wrong and educates me in order to remember the content. I noticed as the semester went on that the remediations were more time consuming than I would hoped and neglected to really analyze them in order to help me understand the content.

I was able to adapt better with time management. I started creating weekly plans in order to better prepare myself for licensure and practice. I noticed in the beginning of the semester that my self-care strategies were not adequate for the demands I was putting on myself. Once I had implemented a new time-management strategy, I was able to focus more on myself while balancing work and school.

I will be able to use the information I learned this year in order to continue preparing for licensure and the transition to practice following graduation. I will be able to use my time management skills in order to organize my schedule in the future. I also have learned the process of licensure which has prepared me to go through the application process. I am so excited for the future of professional practice and all the new skills and education that I will be learning.
